On 29 June 2023, Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) signed an agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia on the implementation of the project “Latvia's Competencies for Development of a Sustainable Bioeconomy in Uzbekistan”.
The lead partner of the project is Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies. Partners from Uzbekistan are as following: Tashkent State Agrarian University, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and two food sector enterprises: “AGRO PRODEX GROUP” and “PROMEATAGRO”.
The main activity of the project is the study visit to Latvia of 15 representatives of the Uzbekistan's partners, of whom 8 are students of newly elaborated master level curriculum "Bioeconomy". During the visit, guests will be acquainted with initiatives of the LBTU in the field of the bioeconomy, as well as other Latvia's policy, business and research initiatives related to the bioeconomy. The visit will allow participants to develop an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the role and tasks of the bioeconomy, each sector and institution in order to stimulate creation of a sustainable, sustainable bioeconomy ecosystem in Uzbekistan.
The project will be in implementation till 15 November 2023. It is co-financed from the funds of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs grant programme “Support for development cooperation in recipient countries selected by the Republic of Latvia” and funding of the LBTU.
