Under the leadership of J. Lapasov, First Vice-Rector for Youth Work and Spiritual-Educational Affairs at Tashkent State Agrarian University, staff and a group of students visited the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the visit, the Senate’s Committee on Agrarian, Water Management, and Environmental Issues held a meeting with students of Tashkent State Agrarian University. Explanations were provided regarding the main activities of the Senate, particularly the legislative work of the upper chamber of Parliament and certain aspects of parliamentary oversight over the implementation of laws. It was also noted that the priority areas of parliamentary activity include adopting current laws, ensuring the implementation of state programs, exercising parliamentary oversight, and increasing the accountability of executive bodies and officials to the public. During the discussion, the activities of members of the Youth Parliament under the Senate and the work they are carrying out were also highlighted. The students received answers to numerous questions related to the Senate’s cooperation with local councils and youth, the importance of considering regional interests in the discussion of laws, and other aspects of the upper chamber’s activities.
The students also became closely acquainted with the work of the Senate committees and administration, gaining information about reforms in the agrarian, water management, and environmental sectors, as well as the legal foundations for regulating these areas.
