Food Safety and Standardization Updates Discussed

A seminar was organized at the Faculty of Storage and Processing of Agricultural Products of the Tashkent State Agrarian University to ensure the implementation of the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On additional measures to ensure food security in the country.” During the event, a specialist from the Uzbekistan Institute of Standards, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Karim Utayev, provided detailed information about ongoing reforms aimed at harmonizing more than 36,000 national standards with international norms. During the seminar, 72 participants, including faculty members, doctoral students, and students, received comprehensive explanations on the requirements of the international ISO 22000 standard, the HACCP system, and Codex Alimentarius food safety norms.

Particular attention was given to strategic steps being taken in the field of standardization as part of Uzbekistan’s accession process to the World Trade Organization (WTO). The seminar was held in an active discussion format, where participants received detailed answers to their questions from the expert.
