Tashkent State Agrarian University (TSAU) hosted an international symposium dedicated to the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Netherlands in the field of agriculture. This event is intended to open a new chapter in the history of agrarian relations between the two nations and serve to strengthen their strategic partnership. The symposium was attended by a delegation led by Lianne Kersbergen, Deputy Director of the Quarantine Agency of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as well as representatives from national ministries, agencies, research institutes, and leading companies. The event focused on the modernization of agriculture, the implementation of resource-saving technologies, and the enhancement of science integration. A positive dynamic was highlighted during the discussions: the bilateral trade volume increased from $3.2 million in 2024 to $8.3 million in 2025. It was emphasized that combining the innovative approaches of the Netherlands with the rich agricultural potential of Uzbekistan would serve to fundamentally transform agriculture in Central Asia.
The Rector of TSAU, Narzullo Oblomuradov, presented the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS) strategy in his report. The key areas of cooperation were identified as:
Improving phytosanitary security and the seed production system;
Modernizing greenhouse complexes based on high international standards; The "Future Farmers" project, which organizes internships for students at major logistics centers in the Netherlands.
At the conclusion of the event, memoranda of cooperation were signed with the Ministry of Agriculture and prestigious organizations such as Dutch Greenhouse Delta, Export Partner, and Naktuinbouw. The new investment projects resulting from B2B meetings will contribute to the rational use of land and water resources and the strengthening of food security.
