A delegation led by Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), accompanied by Minister of Agriculture Ibrohim Abdurahmonov, visited Tashkent State Agrarian University (TSAU). The guests were welcomed by Rector of TSAU Narzullo Oblomuradov and Rector of the International Agriculture University Munira Aminova.
During the visit, the FAO Director-General and delegation members were briefed on the university's educational, research, and practical activities, avenues of international cooperation, material and technical facilities, and modern conditions provided for students. During an introductory tour of the campus, the guests were shown the "Renaissance" lecture hall, an exhibition of advanced agricultural practices showcasing achievements and prospective projects in the agrarian sector, as well as the operation of the Faculty of Storage and Processing of Agricultural Products, modern laboratories, educational processes, and practical classes for students.
A meeting took place featuring the Director-General alongside TSAU faculty members and students. During the dialogue, views were exchanged on developing agrarian education and science, implementing modern agricultural technologies, ensuring food security, adapting to climate change, and the role of young specialists in the agricultural sector. During the session, students asked questions of interest to them and put forward proposals regarding international experience exchange, participation in scientific projects, and strengthening cooperation with FAO.
As part of the visit, a tree-planting event was organized in the campus garden, where FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu joined students in planting tree saplings.
