At Tashkent State Agrarian University, professors, teaching staff, and doctoral researchers of the Department of Agrochemistry and Soil Science are carrying out autumn fertilization of ornamental trees across the university campus to prepare them for the winter season.
Autumn fertilization plays an important role in meeting trees’ nutrient requirements, improving root system activity, and increasing their resistance to cold temperatures.
As part of the process, phosphorus, potassium, and organic fertilizers are being applied:
Phosphorus fertilizers — promote root system development and improve plants’ preparation for the winter period.
Potassium fertilizers — increase trees’ resistance to frost and unfavorable environmental conditions.
Organic fertilizers — improve the organic matter content and physical properties of the soil.
Nitrogen fertilizers — are not recommended for application to ornamental trees during the autumn period.
The optimal period for autumn fertilization is generally considered to be from late September through October and early November.
