Karakul sheep are the pride of Uzbekistan and one of the world’s most recognized breeds. They are mainly raised in desert and semi-desert areas and are well adapted to harsh climatic conditions. Their most valuable product is Karakul fur, which is in great demand in international markets. For breeding Karakul sheep, wide pastures, clean water, and high-quality feed are essential. In winter, they should be given hay, barley, and straw, while in summer, it is recommended to graze them on natural meadows. In addition, salt and mineral mixtures strengthen the animals’ health. To obtain high-quality offspring, only healthy and purebred sheep should be selected. Regular veterinary check-ups are necessary to ensure each ewe produces healthy lambs. Karakul sheep provide not only fur but also meat, wool, and dairy products. Therefore, Karakul breeding is economically beneficial and contributes to preserving our national heritage.
