The Department of Plant Science and Oil Crops is engaged in the training of specialists and scientific and pedagogical personnel in the plant science branch of agriculture (cotton science, grain growing, fodder growing, technical and oil crops).
The department is one of the main specialized departments of the university and was founded in 1934. The main scientific activity of the department is the development and improvement of modern agrotechnologies for growing high and quality crops from field and fodder crops, acclimatization of new and non-traditional crop species in local soil and climatic conditions, study of their morphobiological properties, development and implementation of agrotechnologies for cultivation.
The department implements educational programs for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, and also cooperates with a number of similar and foreign higher educational institutions of the republic, scientific research institutes, international scientific centers and agricultural enterprises (agroclusters, farms) in educational, scientific-methodological and scientific research work.
The department employs 5 doctors of science (DSc) and 14 doctors of philosophy (PhD), 5 assistants and teacher-trainees.
