Sericulture and Mulberry Cultivation

60811700 – In accordance with the fields, objectives, and types of professional activities of a bachelor’s degree holder in sericulture and mulberry cultivation, the graduate should be prepared to carry out the following tasks: development of the fodder base for silkworms, rational use of existing land resources, cultivation of seedlings and saplings of mulberry trees to strengthen the fodder base, acquisition of skills in the use of innovative technologies and scientifically based methods for reproducing mulberry forage trees; creation of new breeds and hybrids of silkworms, application of genetic engineering in sericulture, development of new breeds and hybrids in family breeding stations, production of super-elite and elite generations of silkworms, and conducting selection work for their delivery to grainage enterprises; preparation of hybrid eggs from elite silkworm strains and acquiring skills in industrial egg preparation technology for farm supply; selection and management of incubators for silkworm egg incubation, disinfection of incubators and rearing rooms, determination of incubation periods for hatching, and application of incubation methods, including skills in monitoring and distributing newly hatched silkworm larvae; they must also have skills in laboratory sorting, reception, and temporary storage of live cocoons, knowledge of the structure, technical description, and operation procedures of primary cocoon processing equipment, as well as methods for drying and storing cocoons in shaded environments.
