The library of Tashkent State Agrarian University has been named the Information Resource Center (IRC) since 2007, based on the Decree No. 381 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 20, 2006, regarding the organization of providing the population of the Republic with information-library services.

The IRC operates in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, decrees and orders of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, orders of the University Rector, and the regulations approved by the Rector of Tashkent State Agrarian University.

The IRC occupies a total area of 3108 m2. It has Reading and Electronic Halls for users. The overall library collection consists of 227,899 titles, amounting to 1,085,703 copies. This includes textbooks, study guides, monographs, scientific works, dissertations, dictionaries, and electronic publications. Of these: Printed literature – 198,152 titles, 1,055,961 copies; Electronic publications – 29,747 titles; Dissertations and abstracts – 6,972 titles, 6,038 copies; Newspapers and journals – 7 titles, 194 copies.

There are a total of 24 staff members working in the IRC, including 8 specialists with higher education, 9 non-specialist staff with higher education, and 7 staff with secondary special education.

The IRC has three main departments:

Department of Information and Library Resources Acquisition, Cataloging, and Systematization: This department is responsible for analyzing the need for literature according to the university curriculum, forming a base for available educational literature, analyzing the library collection, acquiring essential literature, systematizing, maintaining the electronic catalog, conducting inventory, and recording new literature into the library’s collection.

Department of Information and Library Services: This department focuses on assessing the need for local and foreign literature, receiving suggestions from specialized departments, expanding the library collection with new literature based on these suggestions, accepting and organizing newly arrived literature, conducting an inventory of library materials with the university’s accounting department, and registering library users. It also manages the provision of library materials to users and their return, handles lost books, operates the reading halls, organizes new publications and thematic exhibitions, and tracks the usage statistics of library materials. Additionally, it contributes to the automation of the center.

Department of Electronic Information Resources and Scientific-Methodical Work: This department is tasked with improving and developing the IRC’s electronic library database, expanding the list of full-text electronic resources, ensuring users have access to electronic resources, maintaining technical equipment, ensuring the preservation of resources, and improving the quality of information services. The department also handles the conversion of print materials into electronic form, the placement of electronic resources on educational platforms, ensures the use of foreign scientific-educational databases, and organizes scientific-methodical work within the center, including organizing periodical subscriptions, maintaining the catalog of scientific articles, conducting bibliographic work, and applying new technologies.
