Entomology
The science of entomology studies the biological and ecological characteristics of insects found in agriculture, forestry and other industries, their impact on human activities, the identification of beneficial and harmful species and methods of control.
Graduates of this programme are entomologists, qualified specialists in identifying insects harmful or beneficial to agricultural crops, monitoring their spread, developing bio-indications and biological control measures. They work in research institutes, agricultural laboratories, phytosanitary services, biological protection facilities and educational institutions.
Training is based on the disciplines of entomology, ecology, zoology, plant protection and biological control. Practical teaching takes place in field stations, entomological laboratories and biological control stations.
The main faculty that trains graduates is the Faculty of Plant Protection and Quarantine.
