Senna – A Natural Remedy That Lightens the Body!

Medicinal Properties: Senna leaf infusion, compound senna extract (Vena beverage), dry extract (in tablet form), Senadexin, Senade, Glaxena (available in tablets), and powdered senna leaf are commonly used medicinal forms. The powdered leaf is often part of compound licorice powder and is also included in the formulation of Kafiol. Senna fruit, which lacks resin, has a milder effect. Senna is widely used as a laxative and is part of herbal teas prescribed for hemorrhoids. Scientific Name: Cassia acutifolia Del.
Raw Material: Senna leaves and fruits (Folia et fructus (folliculi) Sennae) Healing Properties: Improves vision function Aids in detoxification of the liver Reduces blood cholesterol levels Lowers high blood pressure Enhances elasticity of blood vessel Reduces tissue swelling and eliminates excess fluids from the bod Regulates bowel functio Strengthens the immune system and increases resistance to pathogenic microorganism How to Use: Senna-based preparations are used as laxatives. The resins in the leaves dissolve in alcohol and hot water and may irritate the intestines. Therefore, the infusion should be cooled and filtered after the resin settles. In some cases, the resin is dissolved in alcohol and used to prepare different dosage forms.
