Is it possible to plant fruit seedlings in winter?

view 26

Many people associate planting fruit seedlings only with spring. In fact, if the ground has not yet frozen, seedlings can also be planted during the winter season. According to experts, seedlings planted in winter adapt well to the soil by spring and begin to grow rapidly when warm days arrive. Before planting, pits measuring 60×60 cm are prepared. During digging, the upper 20–25 cm of fertile soil is set aside separately, while the remaining soil is moved to another place. This method is important for preserving soil quality. Into the pit, 350–400 g of phosphorus fertilizer, 30–40 g of potassium fertilizer, and 8–10 kg of well-rotted manure are added and thoroughly mixed with the soil. After that, the seedling is placed upright and covered with soil. The most important point is that the grafting site must remain 4–5 cm above the soil level. After planting is completed, each pit is filled with water. This helps compact the soil and ensures good root establishment. Once the soil settles, a little more soil is added around the seedling, and watering continues depending on moisture levels. A properly planted seedling is the key to a healthy tree and a plentiful harvest in the future.
