An international festive event dedicated to United Nations (UN) Day took place at Tashkent State Agrarian University. It was attended by representatives of UN system organizations in Uzbekistan, university leadership, professors, teachers, staff, students, and partner organizations.
➡️ The event was opened by Narzullo Oblomuradov, Rector of Tashkent State Agrarian University, and Sabine Machl, UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan.
The event was also attended by Sherzod Umarov, representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO); Yuri Sterk, Senior Coordinator of the International Labour Organization (ILO); Oliver Stolpe, Head of the Regional Office of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime; and Ceren Güven Güres, representative of UN Women in Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of the event, artistic performances featuring national songs and dances were presented by members of the university's "Boston" song and dance ensemble. These performances showcased the richness and uniqueness of our national culture. An exhibition of paintings and works of art created by university students and UN staff was also organized, allowing participants to closely acquaint themselves with the creative works. Furthermore, a symbolic tree-planting ceremony took place. This initiative became a symbol of joint efforts aimed at environmental protection, ensuring ecological sustainability, and preserving a green environment for future generations.
For reference: United Nations Day is celebrated annually on October 24. This date is associated with the entry into force of the UN Charter on October 24, 1945, and promotes the ideas of international peace, security, cooperation, and sustainable development.
