Faculty of Plant Protection, Agrochemistry and Soil Science

Professors and teachers of the Faculty of Plant Protection, Agrochemistry and Soil Science are practicing scientists working closely with research institutes, government and commercial structures engaged in fundamental and applied research. Also, professors and teachers of the faculty are managers and executors of government grants and participate in international projects. In the educational process, much attention is paid to independent scientific work of students, the faculty has student research clubs.

 

After completing the bachelor’s degree, graduates have the opportunity to continue their education in the master’s degree, and graduates of other higher education institutions have the opportunity to continue their education in the programs “Agrochemistry,” “Soil Science,” “Agrosoil Science and Agrophysics,” “Remote Sensing of the Earth GIS Technology,” “Use and Management of Land Resources,” “Plant Protection and Quarantine,” “Entomology,” “Phytopathology.” The faculty includes the following departments:

 

  • Agrochemistry and soil science
  • Plant protection and quarantine
  • Agricultural phytopathology

 

The faculty includes:

 

  • 17 doctors of science,
  • 51 candidates of science,
  • more than 23 professors and teachers.

 

As a result of their efforts, graduates of the faculties have established their activities as specialists in such organizations as the Uzbek State Scientific Design Institute of Land Management, the Republican Agrochemical Analytical Center, the State Unitary Enterprise “Center for Analysis of Soil Composition and Repository, Quality,” the Research Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, the Research Institute of Plant Quarantine and Protection, the Institute of Genetics and Experimental Plant Biology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Research Institute of Horticulture, Viticulture and Winemaking named after Academician M. Mirzaev, the Research Institute of Vegetable, Melon Crops and Potatoes, the Agency for Quarantine and Plant Protection.

History of the Faculty

2004

Faculty of Plant Protection, Agrochemistry and Soil Science

The Faculty of Plant Protection, Agrochemistry and Soil Science was established as the Faculty of Breeding, Seed Production and Plant Protection in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, dated 3 September 2004, No. 415, 'On improving the system of training highly qualified personnel for agriculture and water management in the Republic', and the University's Order, dated 15 September 2004, No. 245, in accordance with the Regulation on the Faculty of a Higher Educational Institution. Based on the order of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 7 August 2017, No. 220, 'On Amendments to the Structures of Higher Educational Institutions of the Ministry's System', it was reorganised as the Faculty of Plant Protection and Agrochemistry. In accordance with Decree No. PP-4421 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 19 August 2019 'On Further Improvement of the Activities of Tashkent State Agrarian University', and in accordance with Orders No. 132 of the Ministry of Agriculture dated 26 August 2019 and No. 1-9-6/726 of the University dated 3 September 2019, it was reorganised under the name Faculty of Plant Protection, Agrochemistry and Soil Science.

The deans have been: associate professor Kh. S. Yusupov (2007–2015); associate professor A. I. Isroilov (2015–2017); D. U. Ortikov (2017–2021); associate professor N. N. Namozov (2021–2025); and, since 2025, candidate of philosophical sciences Sh. T. Shamsiddinov.
