In Uzbekistan, aquaculture is one of the fastest-growing sectors of the fishing industry. A pond should provide fish with a comfortable, clean, and safe environment. It is advisable to choose clayey or loamy soils that can retain water. The pond depth should range between 1.5 and 2.5 meters and be filled with clean river or well water. After filling, it is recommended to let the water settle for 5–7 days. The main fish species cultivated are carp, grass carp, and silver carp. These species grow quickly, adapt well to temperature changes, and are economically beneficial. The best results are achieved through mixed fish farming — the polyculture method. Fish should be fed 2–3 times a day, in the morning and evening. Feed can include grains (wheat, barley, corn), compound feed, and aquatic plants. The water temperature should be maintained between 18–25°C, and the feed amount should equal 2–4% of the total fish mass. If oxygen levels drop, aeration should be provided using aerators or pumps. Disinfection of ponds and equipment, quarantining newly introduced fish for 5–7 days, and monitoring feed quality help prevent diseases. Typically, fish grow to 500 grams – 1.5 kilograms within 6–8 months, and from one hectare of pond area, it is possible to obtain 1.5–2.5 tons of healthy fish.
