view 99

Today, one of the major international events in the agricultural sector — the Netherlands–Uzbekistan Symposium — officially began its work. The event was organized with the aim of elevating bilateral agrarian relations to a new qualitative level, introducing innovations, and fostering knowledge exchange in education. At the opening session, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, and the Deputy Chief Phytosanitary Officer of the Netherlands, Lianne Kersbergen, delivered speeches highlighting the strong potential for cooperation between the two countries. A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, focusing on educational programs, trade promotion, and agro-education. The agreement involves Tashkent State Agrarian University, Dutch Greenhouse Delta, and Export Partners. In his speech, the Rector of Tashkent State Agrarian University, Narzullo Oblomuradov, emphasized the importance of knowledge systems and modern educational models in agriculture. In particular, discussions covered aligning agrarian education with international standards through collaboration with prestigious institutions such as Wageningen University and AERES, as well as creating opportunities for students to undertake internships at leading European logistics hubs. During the symposium, expert presentations were held in the following areas:
Smart Agro and Greenhouses: Advancing modern greenhouse farming in Uzbekistan and implementing high-tech Dutch solutions;
Phytosanitary and Seed Production: Introducing international inspection systems and quality control to ensure food security;
Water-Saving Technologies and Sustainability: Promoting drip irrigation and climate-adaptive agricultural solutions.

G2B and B2B meetings are considered strategically important for transforming Uzbekistan into a regional agricultural hub and attracting investment into the agricultural sector.
