Practice — the point where science and experience converge. Over 103 students conducted scientific observations in experimental fields

The practical training in the subject of Phytopathology, organized for students of the Plant Quarantine and Protection program under the Faculty of Plant Protection, Agrochemistry, and Soil Science, was completed with high effectiveness. This program, aimed at providing in-depth knowledge and practical skills on plant diseases, their etiology, spread characteristics, and prevention, involved active participation of 103 students. The practical sessions were conducted over 15 days at the Tashkent Botanical Garden, the Scientific Research Institute of Horticulture, Viticulture, and Winemaking named after Academician M. Mirzayev, as well as the experimental farm of Tashkent State Agrarian University. Each student identified and analyzed more than 40 types of plant diseases on their assigned field plots. The most common diseases recorded included:
Alternariosis (tomatoes, potatoes),
Fusarium and root rot (wheat, vegetable crops),
Rust diseases (cotton, cereal crops),
Molds and bacterial leaf spots (vegetables, melons).
Each group analyzed the collected samples in laboratory conditions using microscopic methods to determine whether the diseases had fungal, bacterial, or viral origins. In total, over 100 samples were examined, and more than 70 types of diseases were confirmed in the lab.

The knowledge gained and the hands-on tasks conducted under real-life conditions, guided by instructors, significantly enhanced students’ skills in independent analysis, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations.
