This agreement is implemented within the framework of the "Technical Assistance for Sound Management of Hazardous Chemicals" project, carried out with the financial support of the European Union. As part of the collaboration, field trials of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques will be conducted in the Tashkent and Syrdarya regions on key crops, including cotton, wheat, apple orchards, and greenhouse tomatoes. These trials are designed to compare sustainable and conventional agricultural approaches, as well as to explore opportunities for maintaining yields while reducing the use of chemical pesticides. The initiative places special emphasis on strengthening national capacity by actively involving farmers, researchers, students, and industry experts. During the field trials, biological and integrated protection methods will be tested, and crop performance and environmental indicators will be monitored.
Furthermore, comprehensive data on yields, the prevalence of pests and diseases, and economic and environmental efficiency will be collected and analyzed. The results will be disseminated to the general public through technical reports and promotional activities.
This cooperation will contribute to strengthening food security in Uzbekistan, reducing pesticide-related risks, and expanding access to international markets by developing sustainable agricultural systems.
