Protecting Crops During Rainy Spring Weather

view 65

Rainy weather in spring is an important factor for crop growth, but excessive moisture can negatively affect soil and plant development. Therefore, it is important to ensure that water does not accumulate in the fields. For this purpose, it is recommended to organize furrows and drainage systems. These measures help prevent root rot and support healthy plant growth. After rainfall, the soil surface may become compacted, which worsens air exchange. Therefore, it is necessary to loosen the soil in a timely manner. In humid conditions, various fungal diseases develop rapidly, so preventive treatment and the use of protective agents are essential. In addition, using mulching helps regulate soil moisture, prevents compaction, and reduces weed growth. Considering that fertilizers can be washed away by rain, it is advisable to apply them in stages and according to recommended rates. After each rainfall, crops should be regularly monitored, and if signs of pests or diseases are detected, prompt measures must be taken. By following these agrotechnical practices, it is possible to maintain crop yield and improve quality during rainy spring conditions.
